How to make website faster?

Question

We have one webservice. Using this webservice we have developed one more WCF Service. Now we are calling the WCF methods into my website. But problem is website is working very slow. It is taking much time for getting data. Suppose if we call webservice methods directly we are getting data very fastly comepare to wcf methods. Why?
Please give me the suggesion..
