How to implement Document Preview in SharePoint 2013 Search

Need a crisp idea in implementing the document preview (powerpoint, word, excel, pdf etc.. ) in sharepoint 2013 Search. I have referred the below  articles. Please point out the correct way and guide me through,

 

1. Install Office webapps for sharepoint 2013 with pdf - preview

do we need to install the Office web apps in dedicated server or in the server where I have installed Sharepoint server 2013 but as per this article (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219435.aspx#software). !
