How to empty a textbox in Update panel

Question

I have a button which is in update panel . I want to empty some textbox and set some drop down index on 0 position. i am not doing the same with below code...

  ddlMarkupOn.SelectedIndex = 0;

                        ddlShow.SelectedIndex = 0;

                        TR_MarkUpValue.Text = "";
