how to connect to fetech data to pie chart?

i have to fetch a data in pie chart i have created a join and when i run in sql it shows correct output but when i use it in asp code it runs and fetches all the data in the pie chart which takes more then 30 sec to load the page can anyone tell me the code to retrieve a single column in pie chart.
