How can i run my workflow on old list items ?

Question

I have a Sharepoint list with 20000 items. and i have created a workflow with new functionaliy. that workflow will update some field in that list. so the old items(2000 items) wont be having the updated field or workflow instances.How can i apply the workflow for all the old list items. Any suggestions will be helpful for me.
