Hosted site collection

Hi Team,

 

I have a scenario where i am trying to attach live data content database to local web application. when i did that, there are hosted site collection underneath content database. so, on browsing that site collection, for example http://portal-test.contosoweb.com. i am getting Network Error (dns_unresolved_hostname) . tried giving a host entry to the local machine and doing Disable loop back check in the regitry. But, i am unable to resolve this issue. Can anyone help me on how to make hosted site collection point to local web application. Thanks in advance.
