Hi everyone i’d like to ask a question about “idle in transaction”. As you know it means in transaction doing nothing name of the state. I am curious about how can i get before or after query of ‘idle in transaction’ state?

I think the correct question is : What does it mean when a PostgreSQL process is "idle in transaction"?

The PostgreSQL manual indicates that this means the transaction is open (inside BEGIN) and idle. It's most likely a user connected using the monitor who is thinking or typing. I have plenty of those on my system, too.
If you're using Slony for replication, however, the Slony-I FAQ suggests idle in transaction may mean that the network connection was terminated abruptly. Check out the discussion in that FAQ for more details.

Add a counter in your code. By definition, once you did something (counter > 0), you're idle in transaction.

@Rajanikant For example ; Begin ; One query Second query Idle in transaction So how can i catch in the same session idle in transaction state? Because idle in transaction means do nothing in transaction right?

execute BEGIN and then do nothing?
