help needed - to build a small wpf app

Question

hey everybody, I want to make a small application which acts llike a b'day reminder using visual studio c#. I will save the Person name and DOB in the app database and will also set the notification period for it. So within the notification period, everytime i start my pc,a notification should pop up at the start up. So this is just the outline of my app.I just need to be sure if i am headed in the right direction and how could make it better. The main thing that is bothering me is how shall i interact with the windows system to pop up the notification. Awaiting soon reply. Thank You. Rutwick Jain
