The denominator in this ratio is Total expenses. This ratio is a measure of whether
a school has the resources to maintain its expense structure over the long term.</p>

<b>Gap between Tuition & fees and Educational expense</b><br />
This is the amount of <b>Educational expense</b> which is not covered by net tuition
revenue. Some schools call this the "subsidy" received by each student. This study
shows the "gap" both in terms of Gross tuition & fees (a smaller gap, if any) and
Net tuition & fees (a larger gap).</p>
