Dom element and Jquery Object

Question

hai all,

I m confusing little bit here... 

 

can any one explain what is Dom element and what is jquery object with simple example (or may be with simple words)

 

and what is Parents() function .if it search throughout the Dom tree whats is the use of it... In what kind of cases i need this   ??
