DirectX problem

Question

The hospital that me and a mate are developping for, doesn't have directx9 installed. We have to use a video playback function, which is easy in dx9. The problem is that the function doesn't work on dx8. Therefore we have to find a workaround. Does anyone in here know if it is possible to solve this problem. tnx in advance system on which it has to work: p4: 2.8 512 ddr XP installed with .NET framework dx8.1 support no admin functions to install software
