devexpress xtragrid

hey there devexpress users

help me out

i am using an xtragrid to update some data

the data displayed in the grid is first fed to a data table and then attacthed as a source to the grid

now the problem is that i cannot change the values but if i can change it then the value changees events will not fire

give me sugession on the same
