Custom print dialouge window

Question

Hello all, I'm currently building a HTML based touchscreen Kiosk. I need to be able to display custom print dialouges(such as printing in progress, out of paper etc.) when a users hits the print button from a webpage on the touch screen. This includes any printer error message(out of paper etc.). Is activeX the right direction to take? and is it possible to catch any printer errors and display a custom dialouge window without the standard 'document failed to print' message? Thanks Si
