Can SharePoint Alerts be sent to a Shared Mailbox ?

Question

A new shared mailbox id is created with the @domain.com (there is no domain change)

 

I need to create alerts for sharepoint onprem 2013 library where i need to add newly created shared mailbox id in "Alert me".But when i'm entering this mailbox id , its throwing an error " sorry, you cannot share this with external user" (though the mailbox id is not external user)

 

Any ideas or pointers to resolve this issue.
