best File transfer Classes

Hi. looking for a class which will simply take a file and send to a remote user and receive anything at the same time.. I have a small application which sends these files periodically. Sometimes the file are > 1MB and find FTP is very slow.. have looked at SuperComm and bigspeed but again these are very slow for what I require.. It's not a bandwidth problem... any help appreciated.
