Add additional functionality in ASP.NET

I want to create a extra module for visual studio that helps the developer to change the default browser to run/debug the application. But the problem is that I don't know what technology i have to study to do this and how this can be done in Visual studio 2010. I developed web applications using visual studio and this is my first attempt to add additional functionality in visual studio . pls help me...
