Access Request List is not responding as expected.

Question

The access request list in Sharepoint contains options to Accept/Decline the request to the site admin or the person to whom the requests are being redirected.

 But when clicking on accept or decline the requests we are facing the error like"Failed to accept the request" or "Failed to decline the request". 

Unable to detect where the exact issue is...can anyone comment on this error.
