Introduction
Microsoft has rewritten the entire Windows operating system
when it launches its newest version next in the line called Windows 8. If you
are developing applications with
Windows Phone 7.5
and metro-style apps, you will see familiarities in
Windows 8.
Anyway, if you have already installed Windows 8 and
wondering what is Windows 8 logo all about. Does it look like a Flag or box or
window? In a blog
post
published by Sam Moreau, Sam has explained how the Windows 8 logo is actually
supposed to be a window, not a flag.
Here are a cool Windows logos from Windows 1.0 to Windows 8.
The
logo is designed to keep in mind both modern and classic by echoing the
International Typographic Style (or Swiss design) that has been a great
influence on our Metro style design philosophy. It was important that the new
logo carries our Metro principle of being “Authentically Digital”. By that, we
mean it does not try to emulate faux-industrial design characteristics such as
materiality (glass, wood, plastic, etc.). It has motion – aligning with the
the fast and fluid style you'll find throughout Windows 8. Our final goal was for
the new logo to be humble, yet confident. Welcoming you in with a slight tilt
in perspective and when you change your color, the logo changes to reflect you.
It is a “Personal” Computer after all.
The Verdict
So, all that said, I think this new logo looks like a new design and metro-style but I am not a big fan of twitter ish color. I am not a designer but I can create a better logo than this. If I was going all metro-style, I would probably make text non-bold. I would probably make "O" as a window :)
What is your verdict?
