USA Smart Phones: Android is growing faster, Windows Phone is sinking
When I wrote article iOS vs. Android vs. Windows Phone and Is Google Winning Smart Phones War, I wasn't expecting that big a change. In a recent report published by comScore, Google's Android devices are capturing market at a faster pace than expected. In last 3 months, from Feb 11 to May 11, Android has grown 5.1% and Apple has gained on 1.4%. RIM's Blackberry has lost 4.5% and Microsoft Windows Phone has lost 1.9%.
Out of 76.8 million mobile users in USA ending May 2011, Google Android operating system share is 38.1% and Apple's iOS share is 26.6%. Apple has kicked out RIM from #2 ranking. RIM, Microsoft, and Palm are at 3rd, 4th, and 5th rank respectively.
That said, it seems like Android and iOS developers have better future than Windows Phone. I can't wait to get my hands on .NET for Android when it comes out, home sometimes this year.
Time will tell if anything changes after iPhone 5 comes to the market this year and next version of Windows Phone and how Nokia's new Windows Phone will change the market.
If not in USA, the entire world's market share is expected to change after Nokia start delivering its smart devices loaded with Windows Phone.
