Microsoft Web Farm Framework
- Free product (in beta phase at this time)
- Provides automated management of web farms
- Define a server farm in the product and then add on one or more servers.
This process involves defining a primary server for a role - the tool can automatically replicate and provision additional servers in that role.
- Load balancer integration: integrates with http load balancer to manage updates without downtime - the server being updated is pulled out of the load balancer and the site remains available.
- Management of the farm is done through a simple, user-friendly wizard interface, with checkboxes
- Platform provisioning: integrates Microsoft Web Platform Installer technology.
- Application provisioning: deploy, replicate/synchronize sites, applications, content and settings
- Farm administration: health checks, status tracking of servers. automate tasks using PowerShell scripts.
