Internet Explorer 9 is Here

Today was my first day familiarizing myself with IE9.  Although I have used Chrome and Firefox, I found myself most often using Internet Explorer.  Considering how often I use IE8, I've been anticipating the changes that IE chief Dean Hachamovitch mentioned during his IE9 launch keynote speech at SXSW on March 14.  He had talked about the increased HTML5 standards compliance, and the improvements around security and privacy and speed of IE 9.

Here is an example of how the new IE9 looks:

Speed was the first improvement I noticed on IE9.  It is faster than IE8 or Firefox 3.6.15, but not quite as fast as Chrome.  I find that it loads sites quickly and easily, especially when I use the Pinned Sites feature.

One of my favorite new features is Pinned Sites.  Pinned Sites are used to integrate websites with the Windows 7 desktop.  Pinned Sites enable quicker access (more like a shortcut) to your most frequently used websites.  Here is an screen shot of Pinned Sites:

Overall, I think that Windows Internet Expolrer 9 is an excellent update for Microsoft users.
