iCloud: A Smarter Cloud?
Apple recently announced its iCloud services that will be available this fall. You can use iCloud to store your music, photos, apps, calendars, documents, and other data. What makes iCloud smarter is, it automatically and wirelessly (slowly and secretly, behind the scenes) pushes your data (music, photos, apps, calendar etc) to any devices you are connected to including your Mac, iPad or iPhone.
Now, the question is why would you want to
upload your stuff in iCloud?
Well, first I would say a single place to
store all your data. It also serves as a backup device (paid of course) and you
can access this data from anywhere in the world.
Other good part is, once the data is uploaded,
you don't have to worry about the backup and cluttering on your devices. Just
in case your computer crashes, you still have your data in iCloud.
How much would it cost?
Well, you get 5GB free storage when you
sign up for iCloud. But you actually get more than 5GB because your purchases
do not count as a part of this storage. So, 5GB is plenty of space.
When is it ready?
iCloud will be available as a part of iOS5
coming this fall. When you update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to iOS 5,
your favorite Apple apps become seamlessly integrated with iCloud. Just like
that. So all your content and information is available and up to date, no
matter which device you're using.
Smart? Huh?
