Introduction
It is very interesting to know the history of
java. There is a group of members known as "green team" who proposed the task to
develop a language which is very useful for digital devices such as televisions,
VCRs etc.
History
Below are some major points that describe
the history of java :
- In June 1991, the trio of James
Gosling, Mike Sheridan, and Patrick Naughton proposed a project named as
java language project.
- This team is known as the "green
team".
- Initially, James Gosling named it as
"Green talk".
- After that, the team named it as
"oak".
- The team named it as oak because
oak is the national tree of many countries and it is also the symbol of
strength.
- "Oak" was renamed as "Java" in the
year 1995.
- Java is an island where the first
coffee was introduced. It is situated in Indonesia.
- Time magazine called java as the
one of the best products in the year 1995.
- The main agenda of Java language is
to "write once and run anywhere".
- Sun released Java as open-source
software in 2006.
- In the year 2009-2010 Oracle
Corporation acquires the Sun Microsystems.
