Scott Guthrie (born 6 February 1975) is a graduate with a degree in computer science from Duke University. Now, Scott Guthrie has been an Executive Vice President of the Cloud and Enterprise group in Microsoft since February 2014. He has more than twenty years' experience assisting in Microsoft and developing software products. He runs the development teams that build ASP.NET, Silverlight, WPF, CLR, IIS, Media Server, and the Visual Studio Tools for Web Development and Windows Phone 7, Microsoft Azure, SQL Server, Windows Server, System Center, Active Directory, Visual Studio,.NET, Power BI, and our Enterprise Mobility Suite (EMS) and Operations Management Suite (OMS).
Guthrie, known for wearing red polo shirts during his public Microsoft speaking appearances, moved from being the Corporate Vice President of the .Net platform in the Developer Division, to head the Azure Application Platform team in the Business Platform Division in May 2011. He has been a major advocate for developers and has made a priority integrating open-source tools and technologies into the Microsoft stack. Guthrie unveiled the capabilities of Microsoft’s Azure-based Dynamics 365 service in a demo at a Summit conference in Tampa, Florida.
