Introduction
Text highlights are commonly used in graphics design and web design. There are various ways to create text highlight effects in Photoshop CC. In this tutorial, I will demonstrate how to implement this with Brush Tool.
Step 1
Create a new document. Set the height and width of the document then click on"Create". Select the Type Tool (the shortcut key is "T"), type the text, then set the color, font family and font size of the text. Hold down"Ctrl + Enter" to insert the text.
Step 2
Create a new layer with shortcut key "Ctrl+Shift+N",then click"Brush Tool"
in Tool Panel to choose a brush you want to use.The default brush is the Soft Round Brush. If you need a Square Brush, select"Brush Preset Picker"
on the toolbar then click on Preset Picker Contextual Menu Button
, select "Legacy Brushes" in the contextual menu to load legacy brushes, including square brushes, automatically. Now you can find square brushes in "Legacy Brushes" folder on the Brush Preset Picker.
Step 3
Choose the colour and brush size to create text highlight. Notice that the color of the highlight background should contrast with the color of text, and the size of brush should be a bit larger than the size of the text. Then hold down the Shift key and drag the cursor from left to right to create the highlight that covers the text.
Step 4
Select the Text layer on the Layer Panel, then move it above to the layer we just created. The shortcut key is "Ctrl+ ]". Now you can see the final result.
