Overview Of SharePoint Server 2016 Central Administration - Part Three

SharePoint Central Administration is categorized into 10 configuration sections and each section contains the links to the pages where administrators can manage the SharePoint functionalities through the nice interface.

System Settings

System Settings is one of the configuration sections which contains the links to the pages; it's used to manage the Servers, Services, features, solutions, email configurations, mobile configurations and farm-wide settings,

Servers
  1. Servers in Farm http://<SharePoint_URL>/_admin/FarmServers.aspx

    This page is used to provide information about each server associated with the farm with roles and services.

    Administrator has the control to manage the server within the farm and navigate to the servers in  the farm page by accessing Central Administration, System Settings, Manage servers in this farm,

  2. Services in Farm http://<SharePoint_URL>/_admin/FarmServices.aspx

    This page is used to enable and configure the services on the local farm.

    Navigate to configure the services in the farm page by accessing Central Administration, System Settings, Manage services in this farm.

  3. Services on Server http://<SharePoint_URL>/_admin/Server.aspx

    This page is used to monitor and manage (start, stop, restart) the individual service based on the selected server in the farm.

    Navigate to the services on server page by accessing, Central Administration, System Settings, Manage services on server,

  4. Role Conversion http://<SharePoint_URL>/_admin/RoleConversion.aspx

    This page is used to convert the role for each server in the farm.

    Navigate to the services on server page by accessing Central Administration, System Settings, Convert server role in this farm.

E-Mail and text messages (sms)

  1. Outgoing E-Mail Settings http://<SharePoint _URL>/_admin/globalemailconfig.aspx

    This page is used to define the outgoing SMTP server and default outgoing email settings for the web applications.

    This enables the alerts and notifications for the web applications. Navigate to configure the outgoing email settings by accessing Central Administration, Application Management, Configure e-mail outgoing settings.

  2. Incoming E-Mail Settings http://<SharePoint_URL>/_admin/IncomingEmail.aspx

    Use this page to change the incoming e-mail settings for this server.

    This page allows us to enable or disable incoming e-mail, specify e-mail options, configure email enabled lists and configure the Microsoft SharePoint Directory Management Web Service.

    Navigate to incoming e-mail settings by accessing, Central Administration, System Settings, Configure incoming e-mail settings.

  3. Mobile Account Settings http://<SharePoint_URL>/_admin/globalxmsconfig.aspx

    This page is used to configure the default mobile account settings for all web applications in the farm.

    Navigate to this page by accessing Central Administration, System Settings, Configure mobile account.

Farm Management

  1. Alternate Access Mappings http://<SharePoint_URL>/_admin/AlternateUrlCollections.aspx

    This page is used to view the URL mappings for the web application for the different zone and redirect us to configure the internal, public URL mappings based on the selected web application in the farm.

    Navigate to alternate access mappings page by accessing Central Administration, System Settings, Configure alternate access mappings.

  2. Manage Farm Features http://<SharePoint_URL>/_admin/ManageFarmFeatures.aspx 

    This page is used to manage (activate / deactivate) the farm level scope features in the farm.

    Navigate to this page by accessing Central Administration, System Settings, then Manage farm features,

  3. Solution Management http://<SharePoint_URL>/_admin/Solutions.aspx

    This page lists the installed solution packages in the farm and it helps to deploy or retract the solution in the local farm.

    Navigate to this page by accessing, Central Administration > System Settings > Manage farm solutions.

  4. Sandboxed Solution Management http://<SharePoint_URL>/_admin/UserSolutions.aspx

    This page is used to configure the execution of site collection solutions within a farm.

    Navigate to alternate access mappings page by accessing, Central Administration > System Settings > Manage user solutions

  5. Privacy Options http://<SharePoint_URL>/_admin/Privacy.aspx

    This page is used to configure the privacy settings for the local farm.

  6. System Settings http://<SharePoint_URL>/_admin/SelectCrossFirewallAccessZone.aspx

    This page is used to manage cross firewall access zone in the farm.

    Navigate to this page by accessing Central Administration, System Settings, Configure cross-firewall access zone.
