Threshold exceed issue is a well known issue to every SharePoint developer. Threshold limit has been set to a SharePoint list, to avoid performance degradation. Its set to 5000 by default. At On-Premise versions of SharePoint you could easily change the threshold limit to a higher range and continue with your work. But with SharePoint online you can't change threshold limit.
