Create Secure Store Application In SharePoint O365

Secure Store application

  1. Secure Store applications are used to connect external data, such as other business applications, with SharePoint.
  2. We can use BCS (Business Connectivity Service) together with Secure Store.
  3. A Business Connectivity Service is used to set up a connection to the Target Application. The Secure Store enables you to manage the credentials that are required by the external data source.

How it works?

  1. It creates the background mapping between a group of users in SharePoint.
  2. A user authenticates through IIS to SharePoint Online through credentials.
  3. Inside SharePoint Online, the Secure Store Service uses mapped credentials known to the external business application to render any necessary external data on the site for the authenticated user.
