Cloud Introduction
The term cloud refers to the overall concept of a software development model in which a service provider provides the combination of software and hardware services to their customers. The cloud refers to the services provided for the software, platforms and infrastructure and so on. The cloud can be used as public, they can also be private; examples of a public clouds are Amazon EC2 and Microsoft Azure.
QlikView in the Cloud
In todays Era, QlikView is now available on the Amazon Web Services. The Amazon Web Service makes the QlikView faster, easier and more affordable, extendable and manageable for QlikView deployment. Cloud computing provides the QlikView as a service over the internet. For that reason QlikView can be deployed anywhere. The cloud computing solves the problems like fast business answer, smarter decision making, good leadership and performance improvements in business. It solves the problem of business functions at every organizational level. By using Amazon EC2 (Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud), the user can access the virtual computing environment, the virtual computing environment optionally connects to your own network. At this time this network is known as a Virtual Private Clouds (VPC) .
Cloud Terminology and QlikView
The following are some cloud terminologies.
Software As A Service (SAAS)
Software As A Service (SAAS) is a software delivery model in which the data is centrally located on the cloud. The SAAS has been incorporated into the strategy of all leading enterprise software companies. The SAAS supports the web services.
Features of SAAS
- Easier collaboration
- Social Functionality
- Better configuration and customization
- Better Compatibility
QlikView and SAAS
The term SAAS is most widely used with the cloud computing. The term SAAS can be used in the QlikView to create the same application on their experience but in some cases the user wants to create their own application ant create apps on their own data, in this situation the SAAS model is not appropriate for the user.
Infrastructure As A Service
Basically it is a provision model. This model provides services like housing, running and maintaining it. The QlikView supported the Window 2003 and 2008 operating system so that the customer can be sure about the supported platform.
Features of IAAS
- Broad network access.
- Better connectivity.
- Automation of administrative task.
- On demand self service
QlikView and IAAS
Generally the IAAS model can be used by the QlikView customers. For using this model the customer can deploy their infrastructure depending on their requirements and they have full control over that what application they host and how many ways they configure it.

Feature of PAAS
- Development facilities
- Open source platform
- Standalone environment
