Authoring Tip #2: How to pick a topic

May 4 2011 2:23 PM

When you are writing an article, a blog or a tutorial, one of the key topics you must focus is picking the right topic. No matter how good you write but if you do not pick a right topic, you may not get the desired attention.

Here are some of the key rules you may want to keep in mind when writing on a new topics.

1. Avoid Redundancy

Before you start writing on a topic, try to search a website and see if that topic is not already covered. For example, if you are writing for C# Corner, do a quick search and see if this topic is already covered. If yes, try to pick a different topic. If an article is already there, chances are, your article will not get as much as exposure you would expect.

2. Focus on Latest Technology

Next point you may want to keep in mind is the technology. If you write on an older technology, chances are there is already something written on it. But if you pick a latest and cutting-edge topic, you may be the one of a few authors out there.

3. Love to Topic

This is the key point. Do now write on something that you do not like or believe in. Write on what you learn and like it. What do you think was useful for you and others may find equally useful.
